Human Trafficking (GTA 4)
Fans think that Niko Bellic is one of the more honorable main characters in the Grand Theft Auto series. Even though he has had a terrible past and many bad things happen to him, there is no question that he is a terrible person. For example, one of his past crimes was people trafficking, which is one of the worst things a criminal can do.
Plus, in GTA 4, Niko fought in the Yugoslav Wars before he came to Liberty City.
The Yugoslav Wars were terrible, and the Serbians, on whose side Niko Bellic fought, used racial cleansing and thought it made them heroes.Bellic’s troubled past, which is talked about a lot in GTA 4, suggests that he might feel bad about some of his actions. However, that doesn’t change the fact that his crimes make some GTA characters look sane and reasonable.
Ended Up On Death Row (Manhunt)
Manhunt is a very controversial game about a man on death row who is forced to kill gang members so that the CCTV video of the killings can be used in “snuff” movies. Even though the game is about how James Earl Cash only killed bad people, it doesn’t seem likely that Cash’s shady past, which put him on death row, was a good thing.
It’s no surprise that the people who worked on the Grand Theft Auto games liked making things that were dark and nasty. James Earl Cash was the right kind of main character for a game where the goal was to kill bad people. Even though it’s not clear how he got to death row, that makes him one of the most evil and scary characters in a Rockstar game.
Insane Murder Sprees (GTA 5)
In Grand Theft Auto V, the player can choose any of the three main characters to go on crazy crime and murder sprees with. Trevor Phillips, on the other hand, will do horrible things like killing and destroying things without reason even during flashbacks. The man who had an affair with the girlfriend of the boss of a biker gang, killed the boyfriend when he found out, blamed the body for making him kill the boyfriend, and then killed the rest of the biker gang.
Trevor not only did every crime in the book and loved it, but he is also just a very bad person to be around in general. Grand Theft Auto 5 went all out by making Trevor a real protagonist. He was sexually harassed, tortured, and then killed all of his enemies along with Franklin and Michael in the game’s canon ending.
War Crimes (LA Noire)
Cole Phelps is a difficult main character. He is like an old-school police officer from a film noir who has seen too much to smile much. It turns out that his past is caused by guilt he still feels about things that happened in Okinawa during World War II. Cole feels bad about some of these things, but other things he does in the present day of LA Noire are also pretty bad.
During the Battle of Okinawa, Cole was in charge of a unit. He made sure to follow every order to the letter of the law. Unfortunately, this made him make some cruel decisions against the Japanese, like telling Ira Hogeboom to use his flamethrower on a cave that turned out to be a hospital for the sick and injured. This was by far the worst of the things Phelps was accused of, but it wasn’t the only thing.
Family Murder (Manhunt 2)
To be fair, it’s not really Daniel Lamb’s fault that he ends up doing such terrible and cruel things. He agrees to take part in an experiment that turns out to have terrible side effects. During the trial, he had a chip put in his brain that gave him another personality. This personality is slowly taking over his brain.
So, in Manhunt 2, Daniel has to figure out the secrets of his past while he is on the run after getting out of a hospital. Eventually, he finds out that the man he is running away with, Leo, is not real. Instead, Leo is the other personality in his head. Leo had already been killing before the events of Penalty Kick Online because he had taken over Daniel’s body. He had killed police officers and Daniel’s wife. Manhunt 2 is one of the best Rockstar games because it went to places even Rockstar hasn’t been brave enough to go back to.
Building A Criminal Empire (GTA: Vice City)
Most of the main characters in Grand Theft Auto want to move up in the crime organizations in their city. But Tommy Vercetti is one of the most interesting and least attractive people to do so. He is also by far the most successful. By the end of the game, he has fully taken over all crime in Vice City, just like Scarface.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City had one of the most straightforward but best stories of any GTA game. Even though building a criminal empire doesn’t seem as bad as some of the other crimes that Rockstar Games’ main characters have done, the fact that so many people will be hurt along the way and in the future because of this criminal empire makes it a very bad thing to do.
